About Me

My photo
I'm a former lawyer and now a stay at home mom that loves to sew, create, craft, talk, eat, and sew :) When I found out I was having a little girl, I bought a sewing machine and project by project taught myself how to sew. I'm always hearing from people that they'd love to learn to sew, but they are too intimidated to try. I'm hoping to maybe inspire others to take the plunge and discover a new passion in sewing.

Pattern Testing for MODKID

I have been extremely blessed and lucky to be a pattern tester for MODKID. When you pattern test, you sew up the pattern and check for mistakes in the instructions, and test for fit and construction. I tested two different outfits for MODKID's 2013 Spring line...Quinn and Grace.

Quinn is a sweet little dress that buttons all the way up the front and has a bias tape edge detail.

The pattern has instructions for how to make your own bias tape, or you can use purchased bias tape. For my dress, I made my own and all the fabrics for this dress were from Patty Young's Textured Basics line. The pattern comes in both long and short sleeves. I love that the length of this dress is a little longer than most dress patterns out now. I usually end up adding length to dresses and skirts that I make for my daughter, but didn't have to with this pattern.  You can order this pattern here.

I also tested the Grace pattern. The Grace is a smock-style tunic with capri length pants with a sweet ruffle at the bottom.

It was pretty cold that day, so we only took a couple of photos outside...
Brrrr....
My daughter loved these pants especially and didn't want to take them off after we were finished photographing them. They have a flat front waistband with elastic in the back. I love that this top will fit for years to come...as a tunic style top as intended now, and as a regular top as she grows taller. As with the Quinn, all fabrics in this outfit were from Patty Young's Textured Basics line. You can find this pattern to purchase here.

I highly recommend MODKID patterns. The instructions are always really clear and the fit is always perfect. Please share if you make one of these outfits...I'd love to see what you make!
